For the past 5 years of riding the EG2 has been my go-to goggle. I have some Oakleys, Smiths, Airblasters, and a few others that would find their way into the rotation, but my staple has always been the EG2. I think at my last count I had 9 EG2's in my possession.

So when I heard about the imminent release of the EG3 last season, I had mixed feelings because I wanted to give the EG3 a shot, but I felt like I was betraying my army of EG2s.

I got around to purchasing a pair of EG3s in the Stardust colorway. I put them on, and I was a bit confused at first. I thought that the field of vision would be much larger than the EG2, but that wasn't necessarily the case. The frame of the goggle is still visible when worn. I realized that the purpose of the frameless model is both an outward aesthetic appeal and also a matter of functionality.

For anyone who has an EG2 and has tried to change a lens, this model is a revelation. I still wasn't sure what was meant by "Press-fit" until I actually got my hands on these goggles. Changing lenses is so. damned. easy. It's not Anon M2 easy (while I have reservations about the M2 and its long term viability, I think Anon has definitely nailed it in terms of most efficient lens-changing systems), but one thing I will say is that I think the EG3's press fit is more secure than Anon's Magnatech. I own both. A friend of mine took a spill last week using my M2's, the lens popped off, and a skiier ran over my lens. While I don't expect to eat it as badly as my friend did, I was a little surprised that the lens went flying off like that. The way the EG3 is designed is such that one has to exert a bit of force to pry off the lens, but not so much that it's overly difficult. The lens literally pops off once the press fit is broken, and snaps back in when pushed down on.

I feel like this is getting too long so I'll list the pros and cons I can think of:
    PROS:
More friendly to Asian-fit. Almost completely blocks the gap that was readily present on the EG2 fit. If you have a small nose, this goggle will still fit.
    Easy to swap lenses.
    Lens fitment is very secure.
    Good field of vision.
Looks sick. I personally like the rounded shape of the EG3 more than the rectangular shape of the M2, but they're not so round that they make you look like a dragonfly or a similar kind of bug like the Dragon APX.

    CONS:
Impossible to switch lenses without dirtying / scratching / etc. the lens. You have to use the goggle bag over your hand to avoid doing any of that.
Strap adjustment is finicky. The EG2 was much easier to adjust the strap (I don't know it's just my goggle or if they're all like that).
Lens is easy to scratch. Maybe that shouldn't be a con, because the bigger the surface area, the easier it is to scratch.

FInal thought: With the M2, these are my favorite goggle on the market. I know every year goggles keep getting bigger and bigger, and I honestly hope that Electric won't go much bigger than this, because these are enormous. But in terms of functionality, aesthetics, and build quality, this is as good as money can buy. I'm going to buy a few more.

Phong Nguyen is an amazing rep for electric, and a huge reason I will continue to buy electric products!! Great company, great employees, and a stellar goggle! The EG3 is no joke!

    Hey guys!

I got a lot to say about these goggles here. I'll start off by saying that if i was able to, this goggle would get a 10 star rating. As would a lot of other googles made by Electric. For many reasons. Working in a retail store that sells snow boarding equipment and accessories, I've had the ability to try out many different styles of goggles. Oakley, VZ, Dragon, Spy, Smith and i had to tell you Electric takes the cake by far. The most comfortable goggles I've ever worn, my face doesn't feel like its had a rough grain sandpaper sitting on it all day after along day on the slopes. Keep me very warm as well. The lens quality is out of this world as well. Crisp, clear, and vivid lenses always are a necessity while you're on the mountain. making those transitions from the shaded tree cover to the open sunny parts of the slope without my eyes having to adjust to the lighting change. And then with these EG3's With their lens change technology its a quick and seamless change from your high light lens to your low light. January 18th i was in Telluride and the day started off perfect. Nice and sunny out for about a quarter of the day and then a storm rolled through and started dumping on us. Visibility was at about 15 feet. Got on the lift and changed out my dark lens to my green lens in the matter of seconds with no problems and continued on with my day of snowboarding like nothing ever happened. These goggles right here are the ones for you. Comfortable, sleek, and clear. 10/10 would recommend to a family or friend that is for sure!!

These are a NO BRAINER. JUST GET THEM. You won't be sorry. Excellent craftsmanship and the wide lense is like riding in Wide screen you get so much more periferal vision!!!! They look amazing of course the frame less design is sleek and modern looking. These goggles are 100% worth their cost and they are backed by a no B.S warranty. If there is a legitimate defect with your goggle they will help you out. Truly refreshing for a company to actually HONOUR their warranties!! The Electric EG3 goggle is worth your hard earned money. Period.

I read about how the seal between the two lenses make it virtually impossible for fogging. Today I rode with these goggles for the fourth time ever and there's not a scratch on them yet they fogged between the two lenses. Granted I ride Mt Baker and most gear doesn't stand up to conditions here but I expected more than four days out of a $200 plus pair of goggles.

Such an AWESOME pair of goggles! Fit is great, feel is comfortable, and the style is sick. Electric overall just knows what they are doing in the goggle department. I will not switch to another brand - #ElectricBrandLoyal

In addition to the goggles being great, I have recently submitted a manufacturing defect claim and was followed up and taken care of within days. They sent me a brand new lens with no hassle at all. Just wanted to thanks to Phong, my customer service representative and Electric for such an exceptional brand and customer service. Thank you!

Bought these last year and have generally been happy with them until I was on this season's teaching job in S.Korea and after a small rain shower the UV-reflective coating was completely destroyed. I was told it was due to pollution mixed with the rain but I would have imagined that Electric had catered for rain/snow-mixed chemicals that may corrode the coating.

I was left with a google lens that had blotches looking like rain drops but when wiping they never went away.

Also the scratch resistant coating isn't as scratch resistant as it claims to be. They scratch easily - even when they dropped to the floor for the first time.

I've tried contact customer service at electric requesting a replacement lens as I'm within the warranty period but no reply. Therefore all in all I'm a disappointed customer. 10/10 for design and lens-changeability. 6/10 for durability and 3/10 for customer service.

    I just lost 160€...

EG3 is the way to go. Can't beat the peripheral vision and lens swap system compared to Smiths or anything else out there. Leave your Oakleys at the door, the EG3s have got this.

I had a weather-damaged pair while teaching snowboarding in Asia and Electric customer care was excellent. Once proof of purchase and warranty was sent by email they sent a new lens out to compensate for the one that was damaged. Really impressed with the service and speed of delivery. Good company! Keep your warranty receipts!

The EG3's are awesome. The lenses are incredibly easy to change out and the goggles themselves look pretty sick. Unfortunately, my red-chrome lenses were ruined by weather, so I contacted customer service asking if this was normal. Phong was able to get me replacement lenses that shipped out the next day. The goggles are pretty bad ass, but the customer service of Electric is even better. Thank you!

Just went from EG2 (had them for 6 years, still in good shape) to the EG3 and let me tell you, Electric just keeps amazing me with their products! Look no further than these goggles, you won't be disappointed! Not only will you look like a bad ass, but all your friends will want a pair! Thanks Electric for making such a fine pair of goggles!

These googles are great, huge field of vision, and the press seal interchangeable lens system is the best I have used. I can easily change the lenses without taking the goggles off of my face, or I can pop them off to wipe them after tomahawking in pow.
I had some problems with my lenses, one of them had a broken seal between the lenses that allowed moisture to get inside and fog up, the other had the chrome mirror rub off really quickly. I contacted Electric about these problems, sent them pics of the damage, and they sent me two new pairs of lenses which I got in the mail two days later. Great customer service!

VLT is the amount of visual light that is transmitted through the lens. A lower VLT percentage allows less light to pass through the lens (darker lenses). A higher VLT percentage allows more light to pass through the lens (lighter lenses). VLT percentages are grouped into 5 categories ranging from bright sunny skies (CAT 4) to night riding (CAT 0.)
